Orbik meticulously creates these images through a combination of extensive period research, a photography session utilizing live models, costumes and sets. Rendering the original oil painting takes approximately a week to complete.
Departing his renown Batman and Flash imagery, Orbik's venue in this art seeks a film noir approach, leaving a certain hard rawness to his characters.
Orbik has also created titles for the DC Comics' "Pulp Heroes" series. He has created art for Universal and Sony, and for the Dungeons and Dragons series, as well as rendered images for Stephen King and Ray Bradbury titles. Orbik was recently chosen by George Lucas to create three covers for an upcoming Star Wars book series.
Also a teacher, Orbik has taught art for over twelve years.
